Pathological dandruff can have different reasons. It is most often caused by a skin fungus, either Pityrosporum ovale or Malassezia furfur, but atopic dermatitis and psoriasis also produce flaky skin.
The usual treatments include cortisone and anti-fungal remedies, which both have unwanted side-effects. Cortisone affects the scalp and can result in loss of hair. Antifungal shampoo or treatments can cause the fungus to become resistant over time making the treatment ineffective.
Apply a thick layer of Maveracream®, massage into the scalp and leave for 20 minutes or overnight. Often, dandruff and fungi disappear overnight. If necessary, repeat application once or twice for a lasting effect
